Quarter Two
This quarter in IS, the focus was understanding the psychology behind discrimination. One of the activities was a discussion about different aspects of discrimination, prompted by different questions. The discrimination discussion was my best work because it shows my understanding on discrimination and its cause/effect, and the fact that I can talk about it instead of just remember it shows my understanding of the topic. Because it was a discussion, it also gave the opportunity to not just answer the question, but consider the results from other perspectives. Because I was willing to express my opinions and listen to others' throughout the process of this assignment, I could accomplish the assignment well. To improve in the future, I should look for more information from different sources, so that I can increase my knowledge on the subject and have a more in-depth analysis. I should also come more prepared to the discussions, and take more time to consider the different aspects of the answer so that I can also develop a more reflective attitude. The key concept involved in this assignment is connections, as it helped me understand the relationships between discrimination within the society and between people, as it discusses the cause and effect. It also shows how humans relate with each other, and the connections individuals make to other people based on what they perceive and what they are taught of cultural or social norms.
Quarter One
This quarter in IS the main focus was learning about the Holocaust, and the Human Right abuses involved in it. Hence, I learned a lot about the practicalities of Human Rights and how the impact of the Holocaust. I also studied what exactly made the Holocaust so effective in a negative sense. My best work for the quarter was a test regarding the Holocaust, because it showed my understanding on the subject. Something I did well in the test was thinking on my feet and remembering the different aspects, then further understanding them and applying them into the different answers in the test. Something to improve in the future is my memory on terms and numbers, so that my arguments in the test would've been stronger. I should also be more descriptive in my answers, to show a better understanding and achieve a better score. The key concept involved in this is change, because I've been taught to see the changes that the Holocaust brought towards the world. This quarter has taught me to see the different events throughout history and how they build upon each other to create the world that we live in today, emphasizing the change that history has brought to the international community. I've learned about the consequences of change, too, giving me a more wholesome view on the concept.
My goal this year in humanities is to understand the Human Rights and do well on the assignments given.
