Quarter Reflection
My goal in this Academic year was to achieve the best Academic grades that I could manage. I was aiming for all sevens – which is impossible – but I could still dream, right? As expected, I have not achieved my dream goal of getting all sevens, but I achieved my goal of doing the best that I could do. For the previous few Report Cards, I have been receiving multiple sevens, but not all. However, I’m still glad that I managed to do my best, though I know that I can do better, and I’m glad of how the year went down. If I want to achieve my main goal, then I have to work harder.
I think that the subject I did best in this year, I think, is math. For most of the test, I received either a perfect score or one score below that. I also enjoy the algebra-side of math, and the side that uses logic (I do not enjoy trigonometry). Another subject I think I did quite well on is Science, mainly because I was really bad at it last academic year. I think that my improvement in science proves that I am indeed learning, and it also proves that I am willing to improve my grades. However, I can’t really say that both of those are my best subjects, because for a lot of subjects I received the same score in my report card. For both he subjects mentioned, I received good grades, so I think that those two subjects are my best subjects, thought for others I received similar scores.
The subject I struggled the most this academic year is civics, hands down. I struggle a lot with this subject, because I’m really bad at remembering things. I also find it difficult to cope with a lesson when we only have it once a week, because then the lessons doesn't really stand out in my mind. Another issue that I have with civics is that I don’t really enjoy lessons that only require us to remember things, because thought I do apply what I learn in civics in real life, I enjoy lessons more when people are put in a situation and we have to think of a way to overcome or go through that certain situation. I think that if that small part was changed, I would be able to learn the lesson better. Something that I would try to improve next time is take more notes and study more keenly, so that I may improve, too.
An ATL that I am confident with is communication, not because I’m fluent in it but because I enjoy it. There are different forms of communication, written, visual, or verbal, and I enjoy the three of them. These are skills that I can use in every subject, whether in creating a poster, doing a presentation, or writing an essay or assignment. I have always loved communicating my thoughts with other people, and although sometimes I’m nervous with what I write or say and don’t have the confidence to present them to others, I am confident with the fact that I’ll be able to convey the intended message, because when I’m communicating with others I always end with what I want to convey. I will continue to master this skill by always trying to improve, and make the effort to discover new ways for my self to improve. The first thing that I have to do, though, is relax a little bit, because most of the nervousness I feel is due to the tension I feel.
The ATL that I’m least confident with is organization, because I’m honestly not an organized person. I only become organized when I’m in dire need to accomplish something, other than that, I simply pile up my work because I’m too lazy to take everything out and rearrange it. This is an important skill, because organization will let me work more efficiently. It’s also something that I need to improve in the future. Something for me to remember to help me improve in this area is that there are no drawbacks to being organized, and that it’s a good habit to get used to. To help my organization skills, I will try my hardest to keep things orderly, and, instead of letting everything be out of place, I will learn to separate my things neatly and cut off my laziness.
