To celebrate Indonesia Day in SPH Sentul City, students are assigned to different islands in Indonesia.. I got the islands of Java & Bali. So here are a few things about the history of Java & Bali:
The island of Bali was thought to be first inhabited by Asian immigrants between the years 3000-2500 BC. After 1 AD Bali's name was Balidwipa, this was discovered in several inscriptions, including the Blanjong that was created by Sri Kesari Warmadewa in the year 913 AD. During the same time Balinese culture started developing in many different ways, one of them is the majority of Hinduism that appeared because the Majapahit Kingdom inhabited Bali between the year 1293-1500 AD. Another island that was once inhabited by the Majapahit Kingdom is the island of Java. The island of Java in it's mid-years had 19 different eras, each era representing a different times of Javanese success, and each era having a different ruler. The island of Java is also the island where the Capitol of Indonesia is located. At first, Jakarta (or at the time of Dutch colonialism Batavia) was the capitol of Indonesia, then at a certain time in the Dutch Colonialism it was moved to Yogyakarta (That's why Yogyakarta is called DIY( Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta) in Bahasa Indonesia, before the colonialism ended it was moved back to Jakarta and has been located there ever since.
These are a few facts about the history of Java and Bali. Hopefully this will be enough to get you started on getting to know more about both of these wonderful islands! -(^.^)-
