Quarter Two
This quarter in Individuals and Societies (otherwise known as humanities) the main focus is on how the different aspects of the Industrial Revolution impacts each other (and, though unplanned, the modern world). To deepen our understanding on this, we were required to do a small project regarding a topic of our choice, discussing the background of those things and the discovery's relevance to present day. For that particular project, I chose the printing press because of my growing interest of it. However, after seeing the final products of my fellow classmates, I admired the subtle relationships between each concept and/or invention, and how neither side of the relationship would thrive as much if the other side was missing. This is the concept of the test we had regarding Individuals and Societies, however the IR project remains my best work. In the movie that I created, I started out by first introducing the concept of the printing press and its significance. To do this, I had to follow several steps. All of this was summarized in my short stop-watch video regarding the printing press. What I did well in this assignment is the effort I put into the video, however I will still have to improve the quality of my work. This quarter related with the Global Context "Orientation in Space and Time" because the printing press is a historical object that carries historical significance. Without the printing press, the printer we use today wouldn't exist, cutting down much of the graphic and hard-copy communication we had today would not exist. With the invention of the printing press, communication was made much easier, hence its significance in the historical timeline of world inventions.
